How your exact age is calculated
Your age is not just the current year minus your birth year. First the years are counted, then the result is adjusted down by one if this year's birthday has not happened yet. The months and days left over are counted from your most recent birthday to today. That is why two people born in the same year can be different ages in months and days.
Age in years, months and days vs total days
Calendar age (years, months, days) is what people use in everyday life — on CNIC records, school admissions and job forms. Total days lived is the same span counted purely in days. Both are shown above: the big figure is your calendar age, and the breakdown underneath gives the total months, weeks and days.
Why the "age as of" date matters
Many forms ask for your age on a specific date — a job closing date, an exam date, or a school admission cut-off. Change the "Age as of" date and the calculator tells you exactly how old you were, or will be, on that day.
Leap years and birthdays
If you were born on 29 February, your birthday only exists in leap years. In other years this calculator shows your next birthday as 1 March. Your age in years still increases by one every year, whichever date your family celebrates.

Age Calculator FAQs
How is exact age calculated from date of birth?
Subtract the birth year from the current year, then adjust down if this year's birthday has not happened yet. The remaining months and days are counted from your last birthday to today.
What is the difference between age in years and total days lived?
Age in years, months and days is the calendar age people use every day. Total days lived is the same span counted purely in days — useful for exact day counts on forms and records.
Can I calculate someone's age on a past or future date?
Yes. Enter the date of birth and change the "Age as of" date to any past or future date to see how old the person was — or will be — on that day.
What happens if I was born on 29 February?
In non-leap years there is no 29 February, so this calculator counts your birthday as 1 March for the next-birthday date. Your age in years still increases by one each year.
Is my date of birth stored or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your date of birth is never sent to our servers or stored.
